My next open slot is for families expecting between December 1 and 15.
About
I am a mother, social anthropologist, educator and cook, currently certifying with Doula Canada as a postpartum doula. Before having my daughter (now 4), I held the perception that mothering and motherhood was boring—boy, was I wrong. I would love to accompany you during this decidedly non-boring (and extraordinary, earth-shattering, transformative, creative…) period of your life.
My disciplinary knowledge in social anthropology, educational theory and experience as an educator allows me to offer experience- and research-informed support to families who are welcoming their babies within complex societal structures and cultural practices that are damaging to parenthood, motherhood, and maternal ways of being. The world doesn’t make it easy for new parents!
And, I can cook. In addition to typical postpartum supports (educational, physical, emotional & home economic), I offer postpartum catering.
As an uninvited guest living in Miꞌkmaꞌki, the ancestral and unceded lands of the Mi’kmaq, I seek to continually discern what it means to meet treaty obligations in my business and doula practice.
